The Bally Peak Outlook Foundation has built a broad coalition of global partners who have provided vital guidance and insights into our mountain preservation efforts. Developing expeditions with “sister mountains,” a high-altitude climb to remove waste from the inaccessible areas of Japan’s Mt. Fuji with the Fujisan Club is underway, under the stewardship of environmental activist and mountaineer Ken Noguchi. The foundation also supports local rangers of Kilimanjaro National Park in Tanzania to build new sustainable routes in an effort to promote responsible tourism.
Since 2019, Bally Foundation has sponsored the International Climbing and Mountaineering Federation, also known as the UIAA, and its annual Mountain Protection Award, which leads global projects that improve the lives and conditions of mountain people and their communities. First created in 2013, this international showcase celebrates innovation and the desire of climbers to make a positive difference through transformative mountain projects. Its 2019 winner is the Swiss Alpine Club’s Alpine Learning Project, which brings school classes outside into the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Jungfrau-Aletsch, Switzerland, so students may learn about the sustainable development of the Alps.
The Bally Peak Outlook Foundation continues to work closely with climber and author Jamling Tenzing Norgay, the son of Tenzing Norgay, for his cultural expertise and insights into the region, further partnering with his family-run Tenzing Norgay Sherpa Foundation, which provides scholarships and funding for educational programs throughout the Khumjung Valley and the Himalayas.
